“Remember this, and take courage; Take it to heart, you rebellious and disloyal people.

Remember [carefully] the former things [which I did] from ages past; For I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is no one like Me,

Declaring the end and the result from the beginning,

And from ancient times the things which have not [yet] been done,

Saying , ‘My purpose will be established,

And I will do all that pleases Me and fulfill My purposes,” Isaiah 46:8-10.

“How dare God to decide my destiny and purpose, and I have no say in the matter!” That’s the complaint a friend has against God.

This accusation, of course, is false.

My friend and each of us have a choice in how we live. God created us with a specific purpose for our lives and plans on how His purpose for us will be achieved, but He gives us a choice to follow His plan or not.

After that explanation, my friend responded; “Okay, if God is perfect and good, then it’s His fault, and not mine if I don’t follow His plan. If I fail, it’s not my failure but God’s.”

Well, let’s follow that idea and see how it would work.

Let’s take a car manufacturer, for example. The Maker of the car tells us how to care for the vehicle, the type of gas, tires, and maintenance cycle–everything about its care. If we follow the instructions, the car will perform according to its purpose –safe reliable transportation.

I say, “How dare the car maker decide how I care for my car!”

“I like to drink water so I don’t see why I can’t put some in the gas tank. It’s my car. I will decide what to put in it.” Of course, we know this is a disastrous decision.

The car stops doing what it was created to do!

Whose fault?

The car manufacturers or mine? I had a choice to follow the Maker’s instruction, or not.

I would have to be out of my mind to do such a thing. I completely trust the carmaker and will not use water to fuel my car. So why won’t I believe God, my Maker to tell me how to run my life successfully?

Inherent in God’s plan for us is our obedience to Him. In other words, God made sure we have a part to play in our destiny and purpose.

We have to put the gas in the tank.

Did God fail?

When God drew the blueprint for our lives, He made sure His plan would not work if we don’t work with Him.  However, get this: We can “repurpose” our lives, and one of two things will happen. Our plan will succeed, or it may fail, but whatever happens, with our program will happen without Him!

God cannot work with a repurposed life. His plan is perfect and is designed to get us to our divine destiny. He cannot change it.

Here’s what we do when we repurpose our lives:

•    We deny God His rightful place in our lives.

•    We say to God; “You’re wrong. You didn’t do this right. I’ll take over.”

•    We’re on our own, working without God’s help.

•    We become our god.

The Scriptures has all of God’s instructions for our lives. However, if we disregard God our Maker, and disqualify the Bible as His instruction manual for our lives, we exclude ourselves from His provision, promises, and protection, included in His purpose and plan for us.

The question to ask; “is it wise to do that?”

You decide.
